We have a winter weather advisory for the Bismarck Mandan area until 6pm tonight.  Strong winds, blowing snow and reduced visibility in rural areas.  Roads are also very slippery in the cities of Bismarck and Mandan.  Be sure to allow yourself a lot of extra time to get where you're going.

A Blizzard Warning is in effect until 6pm for Eastern North Dakota to include Valley City, Fargo, Grand Forks and Devils Lake.  No travel is advised in these areas.

Temps will continue to fall throughout the day and one of the coldest nights of the winter expected.  Temperatures will fall to around -16 below zero.  A Wind Chill Advisory goes into effect at 6pm tonight and you can expect wind chills around 40 below zero.  Temps are expected to moderate into the weekend.

* WHAT...For the Winter Weather Advisory, snow and blowing snow
  expected. Visibility reduced below one mile in areas of blowing
  snow. Winds gusting as high as 45 mph. For the Wind Chill
  Advisory, wind chills as low as 40 below zero expected.

* WHERE...Foster, Stutsman, LaMoure, Dickey, Kidder, Logan,
  McIntosh, Burleigh, and Emmons counties.

* WHEN...For the Winter Weather Advisory, until 6 PM CST this
  evening. For the Wind Chill Advisory, from 6 PM this evening
  to noon CST Thursday.

* IMPACTS...Plan on slippery road conditions. Widespread blowing
  snow could significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous
  conditions will impact the morning commute. The dangerously
  cold wind chills could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as
  little as 10 minutes.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Near whiteout conditions are expected in
  open areas of the James River Valley this morning.

Slow down and use caution while traveling.
