Well, parts of North Dakota are set to keep the annual tradition coming.
An early-season snowfall is expected to hit parts of western North Dakota tonight will linger into late Wednesday.
The National Weather Service in Bismarck has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for the counties of Slope, Bowman, and Golden Valley. Two to five inches of new snowfall is expected with locally higher amounts possible in higher elevations. Winds could gust as high as 40 miles per hour, which could make travel difficult.
Other parts of western North Dakota could also see some flakes like Dickinson, Watford City, Williston and Crosby are all expected to see some light snow with this system. Accumulations will likely be a half-inch to up to a couple of inches of snow.
Right across the border in Montana Winter Storm Warnings have been issued, where even heavier snow is expected. Places like Glendive, Montana could see between six to twelve inches of new snowfall. Please keep that in mind if you have travel plans on Interstate 94 west into Montana. Here's a look at what southern Montana looks like right now.
Looks like Bismarck Mandan will get to sit out this round of winter weather.
No mention of snow in our Bismarck forecast. We are expected to see anywhere from an inch to two inches of rain, however. Temps are going to be just a little too warm for snow in Bismarck Mandan this time around. Since one inch of rain typically equates to 10 inches of snow, this system would've had the potential to pack a powerful winter storm if the temps would've been just a little cooler.
