The Latest On Back To School Re-Start In Bismarck

If you're looking for an answer on if in-person classes will take place in Bismarck this fall, you'll have to wait until later in July.

According to an email received from Bismarck Public Schools, a team of Central Office staff members is gathering data and determining a plan for a fall school reopening under current state guidelines.

Starting July 6th, Central Office will pull together representatives from their employee groups (teachers, administrators, transportation, food, health, safety, custodians, etc) and the community to discuss what fall re-opening may look like.

Bismarck Public Schools is also waiting to see if there are updated guidelines in July from the Governor and the Department of Public Instruction.  You can expect a proposed plan will go to the Bismarck School Board in late July.

So, not the answer many of us parents were looking for.  Especially, since BSC and North Dakota State University both announced this week their plans to move forward with in person classes this fall.

I have a source who wants to remain unanimous, that in-person classes this fall are still very much in question.  He also went on to say, no classes...No sports.  This person spoke with a high ranking official with Bismarck Public Schools.

To be honest this really surprised me.  We have good numbers concerning COVID-19 in Burleigh county and if precautions are taken...I really don't see how in-person classes would not make sense.  Another year of virtual classes in Bismarck is not what students need.  They need to get back in the classrooms, with the proper safety measures and get on with life.  That is my opinion 100% in our current situation.  Let's hope it plays out that way for sake of our children and our local economy.
