North Dakota's Carson Wentz is now a member of the Kansas City Chiefs.

Training camp has begun for the Chiefs and Carson Wentz is expected to back up Patrick Mahomes at quarterback this season in Kansas City.  That's if he doesn't hurt himself first. More on that in a moment.

Carson Wentz signed a one-year deal with the Kansas City Chiefs during the off-season for $3.325 million, including $2.2 million fully guaranteed and up to $1.1 million per-game active roster bonuses, according to Sports Illustrated (not bad for a guy who will likely be wearing a baseball cap on the sidelines all season).

This is after the former Bismarck Century and North Dakota State standout spent most of last season waiting for the phone to ring.  Many had written Wentz off and thought his career was over.

That's before the Los Angeles Rams came calling asking Carson Wentz to back up Matthew Stafford late last season.  Wentz even got the start of the final game of the season against San Francisco and beat Sam Darnold and the 49ers 21-20.

Training Camp has begun for NFL teams and the first pre-season games are just days away.

The Chiefs training camp is at Missouri Western State University in St. Joseph, Missouri.

Kansas City's first pre-season game will be Saturday, August 10th at Jacksonville.  Expect Carson Wentz to see plenty of time during the pre-season as starting quarterback Patrick Mahomes will likely not play a single snap.

The Chiefs will open the regular season on Thursday, September 5th at home against Baltimore.

Check out this video of a Carson Wentz blooper that had Patrick Mahomes and the rest of the Chiefs Quarterbacks in camps laughing out loud.
