As you get ready for another summer weekend in North Dakota maybe you are looking for an adventure.

One of my favorite things to do in our great state of North Dakota is to get into my truck and take off into the wide-open spaces.  Somebody cue the Dixie Chicks. I'm sorry, I mean the Chicks.

Yep, I need my "Wide Open Spaces", and we have plenty of them in North Dakota, where there are more pheasants than people (in most years anyway). Some of that video sure looks like it could have been shot in North Dakota.

The website 24/7 Tempo recently listed the best road trip in every state and here's what they had to say about North Dakota.

Their route will have you backtracking a little bit but I have to agree with the itinerary.  It's certainly a scenic route that will get you up close and personal with so much of the beauty North Dakota has to offer.

The Route: Bowman to Parshall and it will have you driving 144 miles from beginning to end.

They mention that the drive will allow you to explore the area's culture, fossils, and geology. You will begin at the Pioneer Trails Regional Museum and end up at the Paul Broste Rock Museum with a massive display of rocks, minerals, and fossils.

Along the way, they will have you stop in Medora and admire the Badlands, then backtrack to the Dickinson Museum Center before stopping at the Lake Ilo National Wildlife Refuge, then head north to the Little Missouri State Park, and then the Three Affiliated Tribes Museum, a Native American Heritage Center.

Over the course of the road trip will travel State Highway 85, I94, Country Road 22, and County Roady 23.

Certainly a doable weekend road trip for those of us who live in western North Dakota.  LET'S GO!
