The American dream and what it takes to pay for that these days.

I don't think anybody would argue that inflation is at a level that none of us have seen in our lifetimes.

Fuel costs, energy costs, food prices, home prices, and even the basic necessities you need in life are at all-time highs.

So, how much does it cost to raise a family of 4 in The Peace Garden State?

I don't have the answer to that question but I do have how much money you need to "just get by". That definition of "get by" according to the online dictionary I looked at says this, "To manage with difficulty to live or accomplish something."  Not exactly "easy street".

In other words, if you are "getting by" you are not living "comfortably."  You are living paycheck to paycheck like so many of us these days.

According to an article on CNBC, this is what a family of 4 in North Dakota needs to get by.

A family of 4 in North Dakota would need to earn $101,085 to just "get by" according to the article.

That's a little below the average of $106,903 it costs overall in this country to make it.

Let's take a look at what it costs for a family of four in our neighboring states:

South Dakota: is the cheapest at $96,286.

Minnesota is the most expensive at $122,387.

Montana is near the country average at $105,689.
