The Local Restaurant We all Still Miss In Bismarck

Who else still longs for a sandwich from the Lucky Duck? I don't know what it was about that place, but it always felt like home when I went there for lunch. Sandwiches like my dear sweet mother made them. Not only that, but being an avid waterfowl hunter and bird watching enthusisast I loved how all the different sandwiches were named after different duck species. If my memory serves me correctly, I was always a fan of the "Pintail" sandwich.

How it Began and Ended

The Lucky Duck restaurant opened back in 2012, according to one of my co-workers. "The Duck," as we affectionately called it, would then soon expand and anchor a multi-concept entertainment business group known as "The District". The local establishments included The Pond, Avery's AM Eatery, J60, The Lillipad, and The Vault.

The Lucky Duck was located at 307 North 3rd Street in downtown Bismarck. It would eventually shut down scandalously after an overnight drug raid by the Bismarck Police Department back in 2018.

Despite the raid, I could not find any indication that anyone was arrested. The complex's owner, Russell Kadlec, heavily criticized the local media (before my time) of Bismarck for false allegations that decimated his business, forcing the permanent closure two months after the raid; this is according to KFRY-TV.

The Bottom Line

The Lucky Duck was a great place to go with your co-workers for a bite to eat. I loved the ambiance of that place too. Anybody want to invest with me to open a new Lucky Duck? I wish I had the money. Let's go to Shark Tank!
