It's Lakewood Elementary and it's poised to open in the fall of 2023.

This story will eventually become more rants from me about why McKenzie Drive doesn't simply span the Heart River and easily intersect with Highway 1806 in Mandan. I can't promise it will go that way...but, more than likely.  I have strong feelings on the subject.

So where the heck is this new Lakewood Elementary in Mandan?

Well, it's way south of Kist Livestock on 40th Avenue just off the strip in Mandan.  Travel down to McKenzie Drive and head west and you certainly can't miss it

I didn't get closer.  Old guys like me taking pictures at grade schools is never cool.

So as of the first week in October things seem to be coming right along!

Between Edgewood Mandan and Cornerview Properties is the Lakewood Elementary!

Here's my beef with this area, with just a couple of small bridges, all of south Mandan would have access to the new school.

Not just the new school, Mandan could get to Bismarck Expressway in no time at all! You wouldn't have to drive all the way past Northland Auto Auction to get to where you are going! But instead no. Why?  It's got to be about The Strip.  Just keeping traffic flowing down the strip. You can read my whole McKenzie Drive rant by clicking here.

Ridiculous...tell me why it isn't.  But the school is looking cool!

So welcome to Mandan, Lakewood Elementary.

Maybe they'll build a ferry system to get kids across the Heart.
