Two North Dakota cities have had the distinction of making the Top 20 cities in the United States of America for job recovery since COVID-19.   More on that in a minute.

As the country slowly crawls out of the major hole that COVID-19 brought us in March of 2020, there are some positive signs.  According to our friends at WalletHub, we picked up 235,000 jobs in August alone, and the total unemployment rate is now at 5.2%.  That's a big improvement from the 14.8% unemployment rate during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic.  A 65% improvement overall.

North Dakota as a state overall is ranked #16 for recovering jobs the quickest since COVID-19.  You can read more about that here.

The data used to come up with these reports from WalletHub is based upon information from the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

So, which two North Dakota cities made the Top 20 list in the country?  You could very well be living in one of them right now.  Bismarck comes in at number 16 in the United States with a 2.6 unemployment rate in August.  That's a big change from August of 2019 of 22.7 percent.  The only city ahead of us is Fargo at number 8 in the country with an unemployment rate of 2.3 percent in August.

Interestingly, no cities in Minnesota made the top 20.  Other regional cities to make the top 20 include Rapid City, South Dakota at number 15, Sioux Falls, South Dakota at number 9, Billings, Montana at number 7, and Lincoln, Nebraska came in at number 1.
