Train Derailment Outside Of Bismarck
On Sunday, August 8, 2021 a BNSF Coal train derailed right outside of Bismarck. It happened right off of Yegen Road. According to KFYR-TV the train had 16 cars that derailed and no one was hurt. I headed over to the scene and there was the derailment and another train sitting on the side track waiting this one to go by.
Train derailments are always dangerous to everyone because a person never knows when or where they will derail at. Thankfully no one was hurt in this derailment and the tracks should hopefully be up and going in the next couple of days. The biggest challenge that the railroad faces when a derailment happens is getting the track back open in a timely manner.
The railroad made tremendous progress on the cleanup when I went by on August 9, 2021. They still had a lot of work to do but they really got a lot done in a short amount of time. The crews cleaning it up sure work fast to get the tracks back opened up.
The last derailment I remember was by Airport Road when a bunch of cars derailed. Thankfully in that derailment no one was hurt either. A person just doesn't know when or where these trains are going to derail, that's why it's always important to stay back when at a crossing. Have you ever seen a train derailment? No one ever wants to see it happen, but unfortunately, they do happen from time to time.
