Let's face it, we don't get a lot of respect in North Dakota.  Yes, I know how to spell it correctly.  It's funny how many people I see on social media who have no clue how even to spell the name of our state, let alone our cities.

In fact, I was telling a friend who is not from North Dakota that some people in the United States think North Dakota is a part of Canada.  No lie.  When I lived in California for a while, that came up several times from the brilliant people in Hollyweird.  You know who you are.

Some get misspelled more than others.  That got me thinking about putting together a top 10 list of the most misspelled cities in North Dakota.

The Top 10 Most Misspelled Cities In North Dakota

These are cities in North Dakota that nobody can seem to spell correctly.

North Dakota's Newest Most Expensive Home for Sale

LOOK: Here are the best lake towns to live in

Many of the included towns jump out at the casual observer as popular summer-rental spots--the Ozarks' Branson, Missouri, or Arizona's Lake Havasu--it might surprise you to dive deeper into some quality-of-life offerings beyond the beach and vacation homes. You'll likely pick up some knowledge from a wide range of Americana: one of the last remaining 1950s-style drive-ins in the Midwest; a Florida town that started as a Civil War veteran retirement area; an island boasting some of the country's top public schools and wealth-earners right in the middle of a lake between Seattle and Bellevue; and even a California town containing much more than Johnny Cash's prison blues.
