Savor The Flavor: North Dakota’s 5 Best Eating Fish
Tis' The Fish Eating Season.
There's nothing like a summer shore lunch. July sure brings back lots of fishing memories for me. The weather is usually nice and warm and even the wind is usually bearable in July.
We do a lot of catch-and-release fishing. With that being said, there's nothing I enjoy more than a good fish fry. I crave it even. What many people forget, is they may have the fish already in their freezer from a previous outing. It's actually kind of sad to think of all the fish and other wild game that go to waste every year because they never leave the freezer (sometimes years later).
I decided to find out what kind of fish caught in our state our listeners like to eat the most?
I recently asked my listeners on our Facebook page and on-air, what their favorite fish species to eat found right here in North Dakota. I received hundreds of answers, but I was kind of somewhat surprised of what fish species ended up at number one. I would argue it's more work than the trouble. Either way, you can't go wrong with any of these fish.
There's nothing like freshly caught fish.
One thing I do know for sure is there's nothing like freshly caught fish. It's so much better than grocery store-bought. Same with restaurants, sure it's still good, but not "mouth-watering" like fish caught right out of the lake.
The long-term forecast is calling for mostly dry conditions and warm temps for the rest of July. Take advantage of it while you can and wet a line.
Time to grab your fishing gear and head to your favorite lake or river and find out for yourself how good these 5 species of fish really are in North Dakota. I'm actually getting hungry just thinking about it. Tight lines everybody.
