The Old Farmer's Almanac Winter 2021 forecast has been released.  Bismarck Mandan saw a pretty mild 2020 Winter.  We got dumped on in early October with 17 inches of snow right before the pheasant opener, but other than that it was pretty mild.  We had some snow in January but most of it was all gone by mid February.  So overall a pretty easy winter last year, but what about this year?

According to the Old Farmer's Almanac website, the high plains can expect another MILD winter, however snowfall will be ABOVE normal in most places.  Overall Winter will be milder than normal, with the coldest periods in mid-November, December, late January, and late February.  I'm just hoping we can keep that big October snowfall from happening this year.  I think the last 3 years we've been hit with significant snowfall in early to mid October across North Dakota.  It really messes with the harvest for the farmers and they could sure use a break this year.

As dry as it's been in 2020 so far, (We've only had a little over 6 inches of precipitation) I'm thinking some extra precipitation in 2021 would be welcome. Again, especially for the farmers. The corn fields around the city are starting to show signs of running out of water. Much of corn is already turning yellow and looking stressed.

Overall for the rest of the country The Old Farmer's Almanac is expecting a warmer than normal winter for most of the United States. You can order your 2021 Old Farmer's Almanac HERE!  They claim to be accurate 80% of the time with their Winter forecasts.  I'm wondering if that's 20% of the time?
