Sentencing Delayed For Fake Fed

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — Sentencing for a convicted con man accused of trying to impersonate as an FBI agent in the North Dakota oil patch has been postponed.

Steven Goldmann was scheduled to be sentenced this week in Bismarck, but a judge granted a request filed by his lawyer to delay the proceedings until September because Goldmann has not received a revised presentence investigation report.

Goldmann has pleaded guilty to an illegal weapons charge. Prosecutors have agreed to drop four counts of impersonating an officer.

Investigators say Goldmann regularly displayed a gun, holster, mace and badge, and showed up one day at a Williston coffee shop with a passenger who was handcuffed.

Goldmann had pleaded guilty to theft of services in Tennessee in 2013. Authorities say he conned several businesses out of money
