Say It Isn’t SNOW: North Dakota May See Some Accumulating
Snow near the end of May in North Dakota? You BETCHA!
The National Weather Service is calling for a chance of snow this week. This is a widespread chance over most of the state, and some could even see some accumulating snow.
I just got off the phone with the National Weather Service in Bismarck, and they told me any snow we see in Bismarck Mandan will not be heavy, but there is a chance this wet snow could accumulate on grassy surfaces.
The timeframe for us to see potential snow?
It would likely happen very early on Wednesday morning. Don't expect any of this snow to stick around very long, but it may last long enough for you to get a glimpse of winter in May, as you wake up Wednesday morning.
Again, this will not be a snowstorm; it's just too warm for that to happen, but we will see COLD wrap-around moisture that will be chilly enough to create a few flakes.
When will it ever warm up? What's the forecast for the holiday weekend?
Starting Thursday, we should be able to ditch the 40s finally and warm into the 60s. The low 60s should be the norm for the holiday weekend into Memorial Day Monday, but we do have some slight chances for more rain.
On a more positive side, I think we can say the drought is all but BUSTED.
Plenty of moisture over the next couple of days, combined with last week's rain we received, and the majority of the state should be in good shape for a while as far as drought conditions and wildfire concerns.
