The potential for Bismarck's first official snowfall of the season appears to be growing.

As reported yesterday, it looked like accumulating snow for North Dakota looked to be more likely for areas east and north of the Capital Region. Minot, Jamestown, Rugby, and Devils Lake were in the bullseye of this Alberta Clipper expected to hit North Dakota late Friday night into Saturday.

However, as I mentioned yesterday, we are still several days out, and the storm track will likely shift. That appears to be the case, as now this clipper system looks like it has shifted more west, and now central North Dakota could see the brunt of this storm system. This would include the Bismarck-Mandan area.

WDAY-TV Meteorologist Jesse Ritka reported the shift in this system on the 6 pm news on Tuesday, November 4th. It now looks like the main swath of winter weather will run from  Minot down to Bismarck and points southeast of the Capital Region into northeast South Dakota. The National Weather Service concurs.

Accumulations still look to be light (1 to 2 inches).

Alberta Clippers typically hit hard and fast, accompanied by strong winds. Here's what our friends at the Bismarck Bubble had to say about the potential winter weather this weekend.

Again, we are still several days out, and the storm track is likely to shift again. In the meantime, all you deer hunters who were wishing for a little snow to help with tracking, you might get your wish on Saturday.

Once we get snow, will it stick around?

Any snow that falls will likely not last long, as highs in the 40s to even the low 50s are expected next week.

We will continue to keep you posted on this potential winter event right here and on-air with our meteorologists with Severe Studios.
