Allegiant Air Exits 7 Airports Including One In North Dakota
Allegiant Airlines is Restructuring its Routes
According to an article on MSN, Allegiant Air will be eliminating 61 routes in July 2026 compared to last year, and leaving 7 airports, including one North Dakota airport.
We reported recently, that Allegiant Airlines will stop its service from the Grand Forks International Airport to Las Vegas, Nevada. We've now learned Allegiant will drop Grand Forks altogether from its service.
Crunching the Numbers
Data shows that Allegiant Air will fly to 61 fewer routes starting in July 2026, than the same month in 2025, but Allegiant did add 49 new routes, resulting in the overall loss of 12 routes. This is maybe somewhat of a surprise considering Allegiants recent purchase and merger with Sun Country Airlines. It was expected that Allegiant would be adding more routes, not eliminating. You can read more about the merger below.

What's Behind Dropping Grand Forks?
According to the officials from the Grand Forks International Airport (GFK), boardings are down in general to Las Vegas, and especially with Canadian travelers, who have frequently used this flight, driving down from Winnipeg and other Canadian cities. In years past, about 40% of Allegiant passengers were Canadian from Grand Forks. Allegiant's flights from Grand Forks to Phoenix/Mesa and Orlando/Sanford have also been dropped. It's been reported that Grand Forks Airport officials are hopeful that service will resume again this fall, but future flights are uncertain.
Allegiant Air Service to Bismarck
Allegiant will continue to service the Bismarck Airport with non-stop flights to Phoenix/Mesa, and Las Vegas.
