North Dakota Snowfall Totals: One Area Hit Hardest

The winter storm that was supposed to bring us the heaviest snowfall totals of the season never materialized.

According to a Special Weather Statement from the National Weather Service early Sunday morning, the Colorado Low that was supposed to bring heavy snow to southern North Dakota was weaker than expected and tracked further south and east bringing higher snowfall totals in parts of South Dakota and Minnesota.

Even those snowfall totals in South Dakota and Minnesota weren't all that impressive, but enough to cause some travel issues with some strong winds.

The good news is that most of the state of North Dakota was blanketed with at least a few inches of snow over the last few days to help with some of the drought concerns.

However, most locations did not see enough snow to take a big dent out of the abnormally dry conditions.

The area hit the hardest in North Dakota with the highest snowfall totals was the Beulah to Golden Valley to Killdeer areas.

On the bright side, at least shoveling snow in your driveway or sidewalk shouldn't be all that big of a deal in Bismarck Mandan where only a few inches of snow fell over the last couple of days.

The long-range forecast according to the National Weather Service shows we might not be done with the white stuff, as snow is in the forecast with another system next weekend (Friday through Sunday).

Dickinson-6.0 inches

New England-6.0 inches
