I grew up in San Diego, and when I was old enough to drive, I found for myself one of life's true horrors - The Department Of Motor Vehicles. YES, if you are a fan of lOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG lines, and wasting 2-3 hours of your lifetime, the DMV was the place for you. When I moved to Minot, North Dakota - when it was time for me to renew my driver's license, I put it off to the very last second - However, I was pleasantly surprised when I finally went in, and there were like 4 people ahead of me! I have happily avoided another visit for quite some time now, and that's probably the case for a lot of people - That's going to change though, especially if you plan on getting on an airplane.

According to the Inforum starting October 1, a Real ID, passport, military, or tribal ID will be required to fly on an airplane. The original deadline was pushed back a year because of the pandemic.

So if you are planning on traveling for the Christmas holidays, the North Dakota Department of Transportation (NDDOT)  is highly recommending that you avoid procrastination and get this done as soon as you have time. They make it very easy to go online at dot.nd.gov and schedule an appointment - Check this out, if you are worried about this procedure taking all-day, you can relax - "The most amount of time to get a Real ID is going to be you finding all these documents, Because once you have all these documents, coming into our office is really a painless process. You should be out in about 10 minutes."  said NDDOT drivers license division director Brad Schaffer.

Once you get that done, the only thing you'll be concerned about is the $200 dollar salads they sell at the airport.
