Minnesota Vikings Suspend Operations Due To COVID-19!
The first major outbreak of coronavirus in the NFL of course involves the Minnesota Vikings. Not directly, but indirectly. According to an article in the Washington Post, 8 members of the Tennessee Titans have tested positive for the coronavirus. This comes after the Titans beat the Minnesota Vikings this past Sunday in Minnesota.
The Minnesota Vikings announced today they have suspended all football operations temporarily. They plan to do a deep cleaning around in their facilities. At the time of this article no member of the Minnesota Vikings has tested positive for COVID-19. That could change quickly however. Players were tested again today, as they are daily. The tests are sent to a facility in New Jersey. Test results are expected back early Wednesday morning. The Minnesota Vikings offered this statement from a press-release. Eagen, Minnesota (September 29th, 2020) "Today the NFL notified us that members of the Tennessee Titans organization have tested positive for COVID-19. As of this morning, we have not received any positive results. We will provide further updates regarding this week's football schedule when appropriate."
The Vikings are scheduled to face another 0-3 team this Sunday, the Houston Texans in Houston. Minnesota will be the underdog in this game and the likely hood of starting the season 0-4 is pretty likely. So how many NFL teams have started the season 0-4 and still made the playoffs? In the history of the league, it's only happened ONCE! Think about that for a second. Playoffs are expected, with the kind of money we are paying Kirk Cousins. Their upcoming schedule sure isn't going help the playoff cause. After Houston, they play at Seattle, where they never win, followed by Atlanta at home, and at Green Bay, speaking of a place they never win. I hate to say it, but it's time to start thinking about 2021. This Viking season sure is on par with the rest of 2020.
