Well if you are in High School now, or maybe it's been a few years since you graduated, I'm pretty sure you are aware that all around the country schools have their small groups - jocks off to one side of the courtyard, the brainy geeks in the library, cheerleaders and all of their good looking friends hanging out. You get the picture, cliques is what it's all about. I was the kid that nobody knew, sitting behind you all school year, until that last week when you turn around and say "Are you new here?"

"No"

"Can you pass this yearbook to Betty Popular behind you?"

"Ok"

There is a Mandan High School senior that stands out all by herself - her name is Lizzie Allan and she just won first place for her business plan at the 2019 Future Business Leaders of America State Leadership Conference. The Bismarck Tribune reported that the local FBLA president’s imaginary Hawaiian-themed coffee shop qualified her to compete at the national conference in San Antonio, Tex - this is what she had to say about the event “It was a super-cool experience. FBLA is one of the largest organizations for students in the country, and so we competed against everybody from different states and actually some people from other countries. It was cool to see so many different people.”

Another cool honor bestowed on her - She is this week's MDU Resources Teen of the Week. Another cool thing about this young lady - she's a demon on the tennis courts - having picked up a racket back when she was just three-years-old.

There is no doubt in anyone's mind she will be a superstar in life, in business, and in tennis. For more on this story click here.
