Have you heard about amazing stories involving animals and their keen sense of when a loved one is sick? True tales of cats or dogs that have actually proven they can detect when people are dying or grieving. This is generally through body language and experts say they can pick up on certain chemicals that aren't detectable by other humans. There is a Saint Paul, Minnesota native that is crediting her cat for saving her life.

According to the NYPOST Kate King-Scribbins pet Oggy is your usual 22 hour a day napping, fur-ball hacking, four-legged cat. She rescued him 15 years ago. "Oggy has always loved to snuggle up in my arms but he began to snuggle more aggressively than usual, which was odd,”  Cat owners can definitely relate to the fact that when a cat's mind is made up, there is not much you can do about it.

Kate would try and shift Oggy's attention elsewhere, but he continued to make sure he was nestled close to her left breast. After months of continued battles with her stubborn cat, one morning she woke awoke to a shooting pain radiating throughout her body. A self-examination followed of her chest, and she noticed a lump. A visit to the hospital proved that she had Stage 3 breast cancer. Attacking cancer in her body, Kate underwent several rounds of chemotherapy, multiple surgeries, and radiation.

Scribbins credits Oggy with detecting her malignancy at its early stages. "If only pets could talk,” she added. "I can’t help but wonder if I could have caught my cancer sooner had I noticed his behavior and listened to him.”

The Bottom line is this, Kate is a survivor - "Cancer is forever a part of my life, and I am OK with that,”  No doubt she will always pay extra attention to Oggy.
