I'm not talking about somebody you met out at the bar over the weekend.

The city of Bismarck has had at least one Mountain Lion sighting over the last 24 hours.

According to a post on Bismarck People Reporting News, a woman and her dog got up and close and personal with a cougar.

As you can see by the post, the Mountain Lion was spotted in the Brunswick Circle area.  Brunswick Circle is up in northwest Bismarck.  Here's a map of the area.

As you can see from the map, Brunswick Circle isn't that far from a lot of undeveloped rural land.  The Mountain Lion likely took one of the creeks or ravines by the river and worked his way into town.  Maybe she wanted to do some shopping at North Walmart?

This sighting took place on Sunday, March 10th in Bismarck.

According to the post, the woman alerted both the North Dakota Game & Fish and the local authorities.  She was unable to get a photo of the animal during all the commotion.  Here kitty, kitty.

The Bismarck Police Department always encourages citizens to report Mountain Lion sightings and reminds you not to approach Mountain Lions.  It could be a very dangerous situation if you do.

What should you do if you ever run into a Mountain Lion unexpectedly and fear an attack?

A member of the North Dakota Game & Fish told me once to try to make yourself look big, yell loudly, and slowly back away from it.

We've had at least a couple of Mountain Lion sightings in the development I live in south of Lincoln, North Dakota the last couple of years.

This is an active situation.  We will continue to update you when we get more information.
