
A New Fate For All North Dakota JOANN Fabrics Stores
It was announced recently that JO-ANN Fabrics and Crafts would be closing a store in North Dakota.
There had been rumblings about the craft chain's closures for a while, and, as usual, where there is smoke, there's usually fire. According to an article in USA Today, JO-ANN Fabrics and Crafts was going to close stores in 49 of 50 states. The only state not on the list was Hawaii.
JO-ANN Fabrics and Crafts stores were planning on closing 500 of its nearly 850 locations across the country.
This news came after JO-ANN Fabrics and Crafts filed for bankruptcy two times in less than a year.
One North Dakota JO-ANN Fabrics and Crafts store was on the chopping block, and that location was in Grand Forks.
Our local JO-ANN Fabrics and Crafts store in Bismarck was supposedly safe, located at 2700 State Street in the Gateway Mall. I even received confirmation of that from a store manager.

North Dakota has a total of four JO-ANN Fabrics and Crafts stores across the state in its largest cities including, Minot, Grand Forks, Fargo, and our Bismarck location.
It now appears we will lose ALL of our JO-ANN Fabrics and Crafts stores in the state.
It was announced yesterday in USA Today, that JO-ANN Fabrics and Crafts will close ALL of their locations across the country.
This is due to the craft retailer being auctioned off to a new ownership group that plans to close all the company's stores.
You can expect all stores across North Dakota to begin going out of business sales in the near future.
The auction is expected to be approved formally today in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Delaware.
How long will the JO-ANN Fabrics and Crafts stores be open in the future?
According to the article, you can expect them to remain open into May. A sad day for crafters in the Capital Region and JO-ANN's employees who will now be looking for a new job.
