WIND CHILL WARNING for Burleigh, Morton and Area Counties
By mid-week, we will have a warming trend, but until them, the National Weather Service has issued a WIND CHILL WARNING for a majority of the area.
The cold temperatures combine with the wind will make for a life threatening situation for a majority of the area according to the National Weather Service in Bismarck.
The counties under the influence of this dangerous and life threatening situation are Dunn-Mercer-Oliver-Stark-Morton-Burleigh-Kidder-Stutsman-Hettinger-Grant-Sioux-Emmons-Logan-La Moure-McIntosh and Dickey.
The WIND CHILL WARNING is effect from 6 pm (cst) Sunday, January 14th through Tuesday, January 16th.
Dangerously cold wind chills are expected. The dangerously cold wind chills will cause frostbite in as little as 10 minutes to exposed skin. Expect wind chills to 45+ below zero.
It is always best to keep your safety survival kit in your vehicle, and of you should get stranded on the road, always stay with your car or truck. Be sure to share your travel route with family and friends before you start your travel.
A Wind Chill Warning means the combination of very cold air and the wind will create dangerously low wind chill values. Frost bite can occur quickly and even hypothermia or death if precautions are not taken.

Be sure to care for pets and livestock. Make sure animals have plenty of fresh food, water and shelter from the wind and dangerously life threatening wind chills.
