Parents "drop the gloves" at a Fargo Pee Wee Youth Hockey Game.

The parents attending this Pee Wee Youth Hockey Game between a Grand Forks and Fargo team must not have received the memo. There were no college or pro scouts in attendance, and more than likely, not a single kid on either team will go on to play competitive hockey after high school.

As a former hockey dad who followed his son around North Dakota and Minnesota, I remember these types of altercations all too well. Unruly fans, disgusting behavior, and intimidating situations. Parents that really never grew out of their childhood bullying phase.

According to an article on KVLY, this off-ice skirmish took place last Saturday, February 22nd, at the Fargo Coliseum in Fargo, North Dakota.

It's not mentioned in the article what teams are involved, but once again, as a former hockey parent, I recognized the uniforms in a second. The teams involved are the Fargo Freeze and a Grand Forks youth hockey team.

In the video, you will see classy actions like a woman pushing a Grand Forks youth player and then a man shoving that same woman, along with other great displays of sportsmanship, all while the impressionable Grand Forks youth hockey players soak it all in.

What a great example these parents are setting for these kids.

The Fargo Police Department was called to the scene, but all of the parties involved had already left the rink. No additional actions or citations were handed out by the Fargo Police Department.

What are the odds any of these Pee Wee hockey players will ever go on to play competitive hockey after high school?

As an example, my son grew up playing youth hockey in Grand Forks. Of all the kids in his grade that he played hockey with in Grand Forks, besides my son, only 2 others played juniors or college hockey after high school. Again, that's in Grand Forks, the hotbed for hockey in the state.

These are sobering numbers. Parents, start setting better examples at youth sports.
