Remarkable North Dakota Storm Photos From Friday Night

Some officials and meteorologists are calling this last Friday evening a "once-in-a-lifetime storm."

Parts of North Dakota experienced 115 miles per hour straight-line winds, which is the equivalent of a category 3 hurricane.

The entire Capital Region experienced very strong winds up to a hundred miles per hour or greater that caused damage across Bismarck, Mandan, and Lincoln.

Some homeowners saw their sheds leveled, the same with shops, playgrounds, above-ground pools, and campers. Others experienced roof damage or roofs torn off, siding damage, garage doors ripped off, tree damage, and flying debris also caused structural damage to some homes.

One of the hardest hit areas was the Copper Ridge Development south of Lincoln, North Dakota.

I was at my lake cabin Friday evening when the storms began to develop, and it was one of those helpless feelings.

Our lake place is about 140 miles south of Valley City (near Waubay, South Dakota), and to give you an idea of how big the storms were that rolled through Bismarck-Mandan, and eventually worked their way into southeast North Dakota, you could see the storms from our cabin. Here's a shot I took overlooking our lake.

My social media was flooded with some pretty remarkable photos of the storm, and I thought I would share some of them with you.

Beautiful, yet terrifying.

These storms would eventually claim the lives of 3 individuals near Enderlin, North Dakota. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends of these individuals.
