Love American Style.

How happy are couples in North Dakota? Compare The Market did a recent study in 2025 to rank the happiest couples from each state in America.

As it turns out, we are doing pretty good in the Peace Garden State in the love department.

More on that in a moment. First, the data used to come up with this list of love birds. 5 different factors were used to determine the states that are lucky in love. They include:

Marriage Rate - The number of marriages during a given year per 1,000 people.

Divorce Rate - Same as the marriage rate math, but with divorces per 1,000 people. The fewer, the better.

Life Expectancy - At birth for each location.

Happiness Index - A score was given to determine the level of happiness at each location.

Internet Searches - The total number of people searching Google for marriage counseling or couples therapy per 100,000 people.

They then took these values to give each state a total score out of 100.

After the smoke cleared, North Dakota is showing the rest of the United States how to love.

According to new national data from Compare the Market, North Dakota ranks 4th in the U.S. for couples' happiness.

This is thanks to a solid foundation of health, commitment, and community. We did very well with a strong life expectancy of 77.6 years, which translates to more time to enjoy life together.

We had a balanced marriage rate that shows we are steady and committed. The happiness index is one of the highest in the nation. We are also proactive about love in the internet search department, and we are outperforming the national average when it comes to the divorce rate.

These are the Top 5 states for Happiest Couples in America:

5. Nebraska

4. North Dakota

3. Iowa

2. South Dakota

1. Hawaii (how could you not be happy in paradise?)

Do you agree with this study? Are you a happy couple in North Dakota? You better say, "yes," or else, right?
