The County With The Most Outdoors Violations In North Dakota?
North Dakota's Game and Fish Recap on the 2021 Violations.
The North Dakota Game and Fish have released their recap on outdoor violations in the state of North Dakota in 2021. According to the North Dakota Game and Fish, the department like most workforces in the country was met with numerous new challenges like increased workload, supply shortages, and learning and enforcing new laws and regulations.
Game Wardens in 2021 made a total of 51,110 "field contacts" over the course of the year. A field contact doesn't necessarily mean a citation was given out. It could be something as simple as assisting somebody who needed help in the outdoors. This doesn't include contacts made at hunting/fishing shows, hunter's safety courses, local wildlife club meetings, or charity events.
North Dakota's Most Common Outdoor Violation in North Dakota?
Believe it or not, if hunters and fishermen would just remember to bring their hunting or fishing license along with them they could avoid this violation. By far the most common violation in the state is people who hunt or fish without their license? That's a head-scratcher for me. Not hunting or fishing without a license but forgetting to bring their license with them while fishing or hunting. Pretty simple, put your license in your wallet or get it on your phone.
The North Dakota Counties with the most game and fish violations?
1. Ramsey with 399 citations
2. Williams with 132 citations
3. Benson with 125 citations
4. McLean with 107 citations
5. Bottineau with 92 citations
6. LaMoure with 92 citations
7. Mercer with 91 citations
8. McKenzie with 89 citations
9. Pembina with 88 citations
10. Stark with 78 citations
As you can see it wasn't even close. Ramsey County in northeast North Dakota has nearly three times as many violations as the next nearest county. You would have to attribute that to having one of the most popular hunting and fishing destinations in the state Devils Lake.
Again, if you want to avoid being a statistic this coming season. Spring goose hunting and turkey hunting will be here before you know it. Simply, remember to bring your license along.
