There are certain staples that will always be part of Hallmark Christmas movies. The list of such is almost too long already. But over the holiday break, I noticed a new one that is certain to happen in Every. Single. Hallmark. Christmas movie.

Hallmark Christmas movies are ridiculously cliche. They all have a similar formula. But they are feel-good movies for this time of year. That, and when you travel to see family for the holidays, you'll typically end up having to watch what they want to watch. In this case, it's Hallmark Christmas movies. I blame it all on my sister-in-law, but that's neither here nor there. Besides, even if you don't like the movie, you can just make up your own drinking game to it. That's my move.

But there's always something you pick up in these movies. Whether it's all the scenes where it's sunny and snowing at the same time, or when the obvious fake snow falling never melts when it lands when it's obviously not nearly cold enough for that outside, there's always some blatant detail you can count on to happen. This year, I discovered a new one (technically my brother discovered it). To explain it, I have to first refer back to a relatively popular movie from the 90s from the comedy genre.

In 1995, there was a hilarious movie starring Adam Sandler known as, 'Billy Madison', which helped to kickstart Sandler's acting career. The movie is absolutely hilarious and arguably one of the funniest of the comedian's acting career. There is a seen in that movie where Billy Madison, played by Sandler, and his movie love interest Veronica Vaughn, played by Bridgette Wilson-Sampras, are seemingly alone in a would-be romantic situation. And SPOILER ALERT, before Billy Madison can finally kiss Veronica Vaughn for the first time, Billy's trusted friend Carl, played by Larry Hankin, interrupts the two in the scene below.

The audio is not the best quality, but you get the jist of it.

You may ask, "Why would we bring up this scene?" It's because this situation happens in Every. Single. Hallmark. Christmas movie. The two main characters will be interrupted, often rudely, when they're about to show affection for the first time in the movie. At least once, usually multiple times. It is now known as the "...Carl, good to see you" moment in the movie.

Not only is "Carl, good to see you" guaranteed to happen at least once in every Hallmark Christmas movie, but you can also predict when it will happen. This is due to the fact that the two main characters that are destined to end up together at the conclusion of the story will have this moment at roughly about the 1 hour and 15-minute mark of the story. Of course, that timeline is based on the counter it will read on your DVR system, given that each Hallmark Christmas movie is roughly about two hours on television.

As mentioned, the "Carl, good to see you" moment could happen multiple times throughout the movie. On average, approximately three to five times.

And there it is. The "Carl, good to see you" moment will happen in every Hallmark Christmas movie you will ever see. If you've DVR'd all of those movies from this holiday season, feel free to call it out when you see it. I certainly do.
