Everyone has seen movies so bad, they think they're good. Maybe that movie brings about a sense of comfort or nostalgia for some. North Dakota's favorite bad movie does neither for movie reviewers.

CenturyLink recently researched what each state's favorite 'bad movie' was and North Dakota's is downright atrocious. It scores at a whopping 6% on the popular movie/television review website, Rotten Tomatoes. When you realize the fact that its main star is Shaquille O'Neal, that shouldn't come as much of a surprise. North Dakota's favorite bad movie is 'Kazaam.'

In case you haven't seen it, the synopsis for 'Kazaam' per IMDB states, 'A troubled kid inadvertently releases a genie, who must grant him any three wishes he requests.' The genie, of course, is played by Shaq. For those of you who haven't seen it, you can already know that this will not end well.

This film from the 'Family' genre of cinema, has a tagline on the DVD that says, 'He's a rappin' genie with an attitude...and he's ready for slam-dunk fun.' If we're making basketball analogies about this, let's just say the entire movie looked more like one of Shaq's free-throws (he had a career 52% free-throw percentage, which is awful).

Then again, it really wouldn't be a favorite 'bad movie' if it weren't so terribly reviewed. Other states had some even worse movies with deservedly so, worse Rotten Tomatoes scores. Some notables for example:

  • In Colorado, their favorite bad movie is 'Jack & Jill,' 3% on RT. It's a post-90s Adam Sandler comedy where he plays both of the titular characters so go figure.
  • Kansas, Oregon, and West Virginia all like 'Battlefield Earth,' 3% on RT. The movie features John Travolta as an alien with dreadlocks and a bad accent.
  • Georgia and Tennessee prefer 'Larry the Cable Guy: Health Inspector,' 5% on RT. If you nothing else about Larry the Cable Guy, the first clue of the movie being horrible is in the title: If you're a cable guy, why are you trying to be a health inspector?

Those are just some examples of some other states' favorite bad movies. Even 'The Room', which is arguably the worst movie of all time has a score of 26% on RT. 'The Room' was also the favorite bad movie for Minnesota, Wyoming, and seven other states. I mean, c'mon, we couldn't have done better than 'Kazaam'?!
