It's October, leaves are changing, Halloween decorations are going up and days are getting shorter.  It is also Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

We see lots of pink all over.  It is the color of breast cancer.  Breast cancer is the 2nd most common cancer in women behind skin cancer.  Many organizations have different fundraisers in October using pink as their focus.  Women are encouraged to get their yearly mammograms, a screening tool for breast cancer.

I think if men had to get yearly mammograms, there would be an open bar in the exam room, drinks would be flowing freely.  Ask any woman who has had one and she will give horror stories.  Some, in humor, suggest laying on a cold garage floor and parking a tire on your boob, or closing the refrigerator door on your naked boob.  You get the idea.  When I go in I always suggest that the clinic give out a certificate for margaritas.  Hear me out...if I have to get squished in that machine, I should get smashed...get it?  And of course, a 2 for 1 certificate, because after all, 2 breasts getting squished should equal 2 margaritas.  And having a chemo port inside my chest makes it even more uncomfortable.

Men you might smirk at the thought of getting a mammogram but just know that the American Cancer Society estimates that around 2,500 new cases of breast cancer in men are reported every year, claiming the lives of 460 men.

So ladies, make that appointment, you know it has to be done.  Then call a girlfriend and go get a margarita!

Men, go shopping, buy your lady a bottle of wine, some chocolates, and maybe even some jewelry, be glad you don't have to get one.
