One Map Shows That Living In North Dakota Could Mean A Long Life
I ran across a map on social media that shows living in North Dakota could add years to your life.
In fact, on average, the majority of counties in North Dakota have a life expectancy of over 80 years.
Once again, I tried to find some actual data that lines up with this meme shared on Usa Thoughts on Facebook, but I was unable to do so. Here's that map, it shows all of the counties in GREEN have a life expectancy that exceeds 80 years old.
According to the map, it looks like only a handful of counties in North Dakota have residents that don't average a lifespan of 80 or better.
Those include Ransom, Sioux, Rolette, and the oil patch areas of McKenzie, Williams, and Mountrail.
I did find some data that shows North Dakota is pretty close to the "Fountain of Youth" when it comes a lifespan.
According to an article on the Keck School of Medicine of USC website, which uses data from the CDC, North Dakota ranks pretty high when it comes to life expectancy in America. Not as strong as what is shown on the map above, but not bad.
Overall, North Dakota has a life expectancy of 76.9 years, and that is good for 5th BEST overall in America.
I guess if you took out the 5 counties in the meme above, that would probably get the rest of North Dakota to an average lifespan of over 80.
Brutal winters, mosquitos that can change the TV channel on the remote, and a rugged lifestyle serve its residents well. Let's face it, we're tough and too stubborn to die young.
