Insane Rainfall Totals In North Dakota! Over 7 Inches In One Spot
North Dakota experienced several rounds of thunderstorms on Tuesday, which brought over 7 inches of rain in one location.
The National Weather Service issued numerous severe thunderstorm warnings, and even a few tornado warnings, on Tuesday afternoon and evening.
A tornado watch was issued for much of south-central North Dakota around 4 pm yesterday, which included the Bismarck-Mandan area, but severe weather never materialized.
Instead, storms set up east of the Capital Region in Kidder, Logan, and McIntosh Counties, and storms dropped very heavy rain as they moved east. Insane amounts of precipitation fell in these thunderstorms in a very short time. As much as 7 plus inches.
There were numerous reports of flooding in Stutsman, Dickey, Barnes, and Sargent Counties.
We can expect another round of potentially severe weather on Thursday in North Dakota, as once again, severe weather is possible with damaging winds and hail. Those storms could linger into Friday. In the meantime, enjoy a dry day today and hopefully some sun to dry us out.
