Minnesota health Care Workers Join Ebola Fight

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — A group of medical responders from Minnesota is planning to go to Liberia to help fight Ebola.

The group includes nurses, doctors, public health experts and others with medical expertise. Some group members include Liberian Americans from the Twin Cities who say they feel compelled to provide health care in their homeland.

Group members will attend specialized Ebola training and learn rigorous safety procedures. Then, they'll serve a three-month rotation where they will be caring for patients and helping prevent the spread of the deadly virus.

They effort is coordinated through the American Refugee Committee, which is operating and managing an Ebola treatment unit in the rural community of Fish Town. The goal is to contain Ebola and provide testing, treatment and care to those who contract the virus.
