Hey North Dakota Bikers – Changes Happening This Year At Sturgis
For 14 straight weeks, we ( Townsquare Media ), along with Sickies Garage Burgers and Brews, put on "Bike Night" every year
There probably isn't one person in Bismarck or Mandan who hasn't heard about this family fun event. For 11 years, you've seen us out there - music blaring, people of all ages enjoying each other's company. Food -iced cold drinks, cornhole, and motorcycles all lined up in the parking. This is OUR tradition - Bike Night!
When we are walking through the crowd, there is always one event ( other than our own ) that everyone talks about
If you have never been to a Bike Night, you have really missed out - No need to bring a motorcycle to be a part of the fun - Freedom Riders have donated a bicycle to a young child every Bike Night for the last 3 years. The big excitement among North Dakota bikers is the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally - in Rapid City, South Dakota.
This year, The 85th Sturgis Motorcycle Rally will have some changes
"A lower budget, and getting back to the basics" - This is what city administrator Aaron Jordan had to say recently. According to Kotatv.com "Last year, the Sturgis City Council eliminated the Rally Events Department due to budget constraints. This year, due to staffing and the lower budget, the city is going back to what Aaron Jordan, city administrator, is calling the basics by focusing on providing a safe and clean community for city residents and event attendees"
"...One way that is being done is by decreasing the number of city-sponsored events at the rally"
Will this bring out a smaller crowd this year? I'm going to say "No way"
