Here Are North Dakota’s 5 Most Popular Dog Breeds
According to PawlicyAdvisor, 44% of North Dakota residents own a dog.
A company called Puppy Spot looked at sales data to see which dog breeds are the most popular in the state. Here's what they found:
5. French Bulldog
Number five on the list is none other than the adorable and spunky French Bulldog. These little guys are good companions for those of us who live in apartments.
4. German Shepherd
It's no wonder why German Shepherds are so popular in North Dakota; these are very loyal, intelligent dogs. They are easy to train, and have thick coats, perfect to endure a North Dakota winter.
3. Siberian Husky
We have a lot of open land in North Dakota, which is perfect for the Siberian Husky. This breed is very energetic, and they love to howl and bark.
North Dakotans love the wilderness; I'm pretty sure we like Huskies because they are the closest thing to a wolf we can legally own.
If you've never heard of a Bernedoodle, same. I am now questioning the validity of this list, but to satisfy our curiosity, here's what I found:
A Bernedoodle is a mix between a Bernese Mountain Dog, and a Poodle.
Now, if you've never heard of a Bernese Mountain Dog, same. *Sigh*
So, we dive deeper.
I could describe to you what the dog looks like, but to save us both a headache, here's a picture.

According to the source, Poodles are the most popular pups in the state of North Dakota. I don't know about you, but I'm pretty surprised by this.
Small dogs are hard to have in North Dakota with the subzero temps being a regular occurrence.
Small pups have a hard time in that weather, but hey, I get it, they're cute.
