The TV Weather Meteorologists on WDAY TV in Fargo have been hinting about a potential North Dakota snowstorm next week.

They have been mentioning the potential for some winter weather with some wind, but they have been very careful to remind everybody we are still a week out and the intensity and track of the storm could certainly change.

What I'm about to share with you is NOT a forecast. It's what is known as "weather model".

Meteorologists use weather models to make forecasts. Our Townsquare Media Meteorologists at Severe Studios use them every day. Both the GFS and the European Model (ECMWF)

Again, what I'm about to share with you is NOT a FORECAST, so take it with a grain of salt, but if it's remotely close we are about to transition into winter quickly in North Dakota.

Beginning this Monday evening, November 18th, and lasting into Wednesday, November 20th we could see anywhere from 6 inches of snow in the west to as much as 21 inches in northeast North Dakota.

The American Model (GFS) is showing more of a snowstorm statewide, while the European Model (ECMWF) is showing more rain and freezing rain in the east and snow in the west.

Again, this is only a couple of "weather models" and not a forecast. A few of the local TV weather guys seem to get their panties in a bunch when we share these things because they feel they should be the only ones who do. Big eye roll. 🙄🙄🙄

Well sorry about that, if it's on the Weather Channel, even a weather nerd like me can share it.

Even the National Weather Service in Bismarck now mentions snow as a possibility for late Monday evening and Tuesday next week.

Does that mean a snowstorm? Nope, but the possibility does exist. Just letting you know because if it happens, we are going to switch over to winter like a light switch. In the meantime enjoy our 50-degree weather for a few more days.
