Navy Jet Spotted Over Bismarck, North Dakota Explained

Suspicious All White Jet

I first noticed this all-white jet with no markings flying over the city of Bismarck a few weeks before President Trump landed in Bismarck before his trip to Medora. Inquiring minds like myself wondered if this jet had something to do with the presidential visit. I live just a short distance from the Bismarck Airport south of Lincoln, and the planes sometimes literally fly over my home at treetop levels.

A Military Aircraft

I knew this plane was a military plane. Why? Well, there is an app for everything, including tracking flight routes of airplanes. I have Flight Radar 24, which tracks aircraft from all over the world. I've written about this app before; if you don't have it, you really should get it. To me, it's absolutely fascinating to see all the jets that fly across North Dakota, heading to places like Switzerland, Greenland, and all corners of the world. Here's what Flight Radar had to say about this jet when it flew over my home recently.

As you can see, this is a United States Navy jet that came from Oklahoma City. It's a Boeing 737 aircraft with no markings whatsoever. This made it suspicious to many around the Capital Region, as I've seen numerous posts about this plane on social media.

Why It's Been in Bismarck

I spoke with Krista from Media Relations with the Bismarck Airport, and she did confirm it is simply a military aircraft performing routine training exercises. The pilots have to get so many hours in, and the Bismarck Airport is the optimal distance for these training exercises. Krista said that this plane flying over the city and practicing touchdowns and other training exercises had nothing to do with President Trump's visit. She added, "The Bismarck Airport sees military aircraft all the time, and this is nothing new."

There you go, now we all know. I know I saw this jet again last week, so I figured it had nothing to do with the President.
