Man Arrested For Bomb Threat In Downtown Bismarck & Gets Naked
Downtown Bismarck got a little scary this morning.
If you were downtown this morning, a little after 11 am, you no doubt noticed a large police presence.
According to a press release from the Bismarck Police Department, a man is now in custody following a bomb threat.
Here's a photo of the area from our news partner KX News.
Here's the timeline of the incident.
At 11:17 am, 51-year-old Robert Walsh entered Bravera Bank in the 400 block of North 4th Street and claimed to have a bomb in his backpack. Bismarck Police Department officers responded, evacuated the building, and established a perimeter.
The Bismarck Police Bomb Squad and West Dakota SWAT team were also deployed to the scene. A trained negotiator was able to make contact with Walsh by phone. After a brief standoff, Walsh agreed to exit the building and was taken into custody without incident.
Before being taken into custody, Walsh let it all hang out.
There are several videos and photos circulating of Walsh removing his clothes and then lying on the sidewalk outside the bank after leaving the building. It's unclear if Walsh did this on his own or if police asked him to take off his clothes.

It was determined by the West Dakota SWAT and K9 units after an extensive search of the bank and the backpack that there were no explosives.
Walsh is now in custody and will be facing pending charges related to the incident.
It's uncertain at this point what the motivation was behind this incident. We will continue to update this story as we find out more.
