1 County In North Dakota Is One Of The Drunkest Counties In USA
One county in the Peace Garden State has the dubious honor of being one of the Top 50 drunkest counties in America.
The following map has been has garnered a lot of attention of late on the internet, and has been shared tens of thousands of times. Here it is for your viewing pleasure.
As you can see by the map, the state of Wisconsin has a serious alcohol problem.
41 of the 50 drunkest counties in the country are all in Wisconsin. This includes all of the Top 10. Pretty remarkable when you think about it, yep those Sconies can drink just about anybody under the table.
What was the data used to compile this map?
It comes from an article from our friends at 24/7 Wall Street from back in 2021. In case you didn't already know, excessive drinking is one of the four major health risks leading to preventable diseases, along with smoking/tobacco use, poor nutrition, and inadequate exercise, according to the CDC.
Each year, binge drinking and alcohol-related accidents kill on average 95,000 million Americans. Let that sink in for a minute.
The 50 drunkest counties in America were identified by data from County Health Rankings & Roadmaps.
In every county on this list, more than one in every four adults drink excessively. At least 25% of all adults. What a staggering number.
One North Dakota county unfortunately made this less-than-sober list.
And, this county isn't all too far from Bismarck Mandan. According to the article, Mercer County came in at #43.
Mercer County is home to towns like Hazen, Beulah, Zap, Golden Valley, and Pick City. Sounds like these folks need to start consuming alcohol in more moderation. Just sayin'!
