
Parts Of North Dakota Now In A Winter Storm Warning
The National Weather Service has NOW issued a Winter Storm WARNING & a Winter Weather Advisory
Parts of the Capital Region, including West River, and southern counties are now in a Winter Storm Warning. This includes Morton, Emmons, Logan, Grant, Sioux, and McIntosh Counties in our listening area.
This Winter Storm Warning, which runs from 1 pm on Saturday, March 14th, until 1 pm Sunday, March 15th. Here's a look at the latest warning area, and the counties that are now in a Winter Weather Advisory.
As expected, this watch area has turned into a Winter Storm Warning. In addition, the counties along I-94 on the east side of the river have been upgraded to a Winter Weather Advisory, including the likes of Burleigh and Kidder in our listening area.
Impacts for the Winter Storm Warning
4 to 8 inches of snow that could be heavy at times, with blowing snow and 35 mph winds. Widespread blowing snow could cause travel difficulties and significantly reduce visibility. Travel could be difficult. Again, the Winter Storm Warning runs from 1 pm Saturday to 1 pm Sunday.
Impacts for the Winter Weather Advisory
2 to 5 inches of snow with gusty winds up to 35 miles per hour. Expect slippery roads and difficult travel. The Winter Weather Advisory, which includes Burleigh and Kidder Counties in our area, runs from 1 pm Saturday to 1 pm Sunday.
It appears we are right on the edge here in Bismarck-Mandan, and depending on how this system shifts could make all the difference from a couple of inches to significantly more.
The Good News?
Buy late next week, much warmer air is expected to reach North Dakota, and 40s, 50s, and even 60-degree temperatures should melt any snow we receive this weekend fast.
