Sure, the winters can seem to be endless, but reality is, our winters only last for maybe 4 months, at the most.

24/7 Wall St. looked at several factors to list the best and worst states to live in. This is the new 2017 list. Several of the indicators were area's economy, jobs market, income levels, poverty, crime, education levels, health care, transportation, and whether the area is generally desirable.

With this is mind, the worst states are Louisiana, Mississippi and West Virginia. The best states are Massachusetts (1) followed by New Hampshire and #3 is Connecticut.

North Dakota ranked # 17. Other states rankings included Minnesota #7, South Dakota at #26.
