The preseason narrative got a little more momentum after this weekend’s games, but not in a good way for Vikings fans.

The Vikings lost six players total to injury after this weekend's games. According to ESPN.com Here are the guys that got carted off.

Minnesota had six players leave the game with injuries and not return. Three players were carted off: defensive end Ade Aruna (knee), offensive lineman Cedrick Lang (lower leg) and fullback Johnny Stanton (lower leg).

Then there were other less severe, but still troubling, injuries.

Cornerback Mackensie Alexander suffered an ankle injury in the first quarter and was listed as questionable to return. Center Josh Andrews injured his ankle at the beginning of the third quarter on an incomplete pass and was ruled out for the remainder of the game. After rookie Jeff Badet caught a 13-yard pass from Kyle Sloter in the fourth quarter, the receiver took a vicious hit to the head that put him in the concussion protocol.

The question will always be how important preseason games are. The players don't get paid a lot for them (they do get a per-deim though) and the owners recoup all the stadium profits and ticket sales.  It really is a crap shoot for teams that want to evaluate but not lose difference makers in the process.

The dialogue won't be going away anytime soon.

Personally, I believe preseason is an extension of training camp and if these guys aren't in football shape, the chance that they will get hurt increases. I know these guys don't want full contact in minicamps or practice, but how are they going to get ready for the season or live play otherwise?

It really is terrible to see this happen to any team or fan base over games that don't count.
