
Shocking: North Dakota Actually Has 12 Weather Seasons!
We have all grown up believing we have four seasons in North Dakota.
This is something you will not learn by watching your local TV weatherman on the news at night. Yep, there is more than just winter, spring, summer, and fall when you live in North Dakota.
In fact, there are many days living in the Peace Garden State, where you can experience two or even three of these seasons in a 24-hour period in North Dakota.
For example, this time of year (transitioning into fall), you will likely need to turn on the heater on the way into work, and then turn on your air conditioner on the way home.

I couldn't believe all the pontoons on the sandbars on the way home from work Monday afternoon, when we were experiencing freeze and frost warnings this past weekend. What a turnaround.
Extreme weather in North Dakota is definitely a thing, no matter what the so-called season.
We experience the highs and lows like no other state. That's what happens when you live directly in the center of a continent. We do have the geographical center of North America. Thank you, Rugby, North Dakota.
Wild weather and extreme temperature changes are just a way of life for North Dakotans. People who live outside of our state just don't fully understand what we have to endure when it comes to the weather in this state.
The beautiful thing is, if you don't like the weather one minute, there's a good chance you just have to wait a few minutes, and you could experience a whole new season.
