The Drunkest States In America, Where Does North Dakota Stumble I

According to our friends at World Population Review, they crunched the numbers, and came up with the states with the most alcohol consumption for 2021. North Dakota has had a reputation for a long time now, as one of the drunkest states in America. Binge drinking, underage drinking and alcoholism are all a problems for the Peace Garden State. I'm not sure if it's the fact we typically have 6 months of winter, the lack of things to do in general in the state, or our predominantly German heritage? We like to drink in North Dakota.

According to the article, alcohol drinks in the United States are a regulated drug. One drink actually has 0.6 ounces of pure alcohol. That would include a 12 ounce beer or 5 ounces of wine. Now, I know why wine gives me a headache, compared to a couple of beers.

So, which states like to tie one on more than the rest? New Hampshire drinks the most gallons of alcohol per capita at 4.76 gallons. That's more than twice the National average. Utah drinks the least amount of alcohol in the United States with a consumption of 1.34 gallons.

The rest of the top 10 include: Delaware at #2 at 3.72 gallons, Nevada comes at #3 with 3.46 gallons and North Dakota stumbles in at #4 in the country, consuming 3.26 gallons of alcohol per capita. Rounding out the top 10, Montana at #5, Vermont at #6, the drunken Sconies Wisconsin at #7, Alaska comes in #8, Idaho at #9 and South Dakota sneaks inside the top 10. Minnesota, incase you are wondering, finished just outside the top 10 at #13.
