After a call for backup from various state agencies from around the Midwest, and after a dangerous weekend at the Dakota Access Pipeline construction area, Morton County officials have once again established a road block on State Highway 1806.

The blocked road is around the Fort Rice area around Highway 24, and will remain up indefinitely according to Morton County Emergency Services.

Over the weekend, protesters came close to the construction area and over 100 people were arrested on various charges Saturday and Sunday.

Reinforcement came from neighboring states including Wisconsin, South Dakota, Wyoming, Nebraska, Indiana, Minnesota and other municipalities from North Dakota.

Due to the large amount of protesters arrested over the weekend, other jails were used to house the arrested including Cass, Mercer, McLean, Stark and Stutsman counties plus neighboring city jails from around the state.
