Remember When North Dakota’s Tigirlily Gold Crashed A Wedding?
Have you ever crashed a wedding dance before? As it turns out, even famous people do sometimes.
The sisters from Hazen, North Dakota, Kendra and Krista Slaubaugh, otherwise known as the National recording act Tigirlily Gold crashed a wedding dance right here in Bismarck back in July of 22. I wonder if they said they had a maple syrup conglomerate in Vermont?
Details came to us from a listener who videotaped the impromptu singing performance at a wedding reception at the Ramada Inn Hotel in Bismarck. Apparently, the Slaubaugh sisters were singing karaoke at the hotel bar next door to the reception when one of the groomsmen suggested they stop by.
They were only known as Tigirlly back then. They had not adopted "Gold" yet to their Tigirlily name.
Well, that is precisely what Tigirlily did. Apparently, Tigirlily mingled with the crowd for about a half hour before they decided to sing the couple's first dance song. It was none other than a song that's guaranteed to make any crowd break out into song, "Don't Stop Believing" by the band Journey. What a thrill for the then newly married couple Evan Reich and his bride Elizabeth (Liz) Fitter.
Of course, Tigiriliy Gold nailed it.
Here's the infamous video that was filmed by my friend Chrissy Schell Nelson.
Tigirlily was probably doing karaoke at the time to prepare for a lengthy part of their tour that summer.
Two summers later, Tigirlily Gold is still killin' it!
In case you missed their largest headlining show ever at the Mandan Rodeo on June 29th, 2024, here are the photos.
One of North Dakota's finest treasures is the very talented band Tigirily Gold. If you ever get the chance to see them live, don't miss out on the chance.
