You may have heard about a potential snow event affecting parts of North Dakota.

You may have seen this weather model from the GFS (Global Forecast System) that our friends at the Bismarck Bubble shared on their Facebook page. It showed a potential snowstorm with plenty of wind and sharply colder temperatures starting around October 11th. Here's a look at that model.

If you are hoping to prolong the first snow of the season like so many North Dakotans, we have good news for you.

That model has been updated and is no longer valid. What we are seeing now is sharply colder temperatures starting at the end of next week. Upper 50s for daytime highs will be the norm, and it will definitely feel like fall. Here's an updated weather model showing those temperatures from the Bismarck Bubble.

If you are looking forward to the first snow of the season, late October could bring you a slight chance, as some of the long-range forecasts are showing rain and potentially some wet snowflakes around October 27th to October 29th.

In the meantime, summer-like weather will prevail for the rest of the week.

80s for daytime highs through Friday, then rain moves in sometime over the weekend, ushering in much cooler weather, as we will struggle to reach a high of 60 on Sunday. This will bring a string of 50-degree weather for next week, according to the National Weather Service in Bismarck.
