Bismarck Bubble Lives Up To Name: Area Rainfall Totals
Rainfall was Scarce in the Capital Region
The first widespread outbreak of severe weather for North Dakota this year was a non-event for Bismarck-Mandan. Very little, if any, rain fell, except that the Lincoln area did receive some beneficial rain. Where I live, south of Lincoln, we picked up nearly 3/4 of an inch in my rain gauge, which was a nice surprise after the initial line of thunderstorms set up well east of the Missouri River.
Severe Weather Reports
A tornado was reported near the town of Belcourt, with reports of some damage, but other reports were saying the photo was AI. If that is true, it's pretty sad that people would fabricate such a thing, but I guess it's a sign of the times. There were also reports of up to golf ball-sized hail over parts of central and northeast North Dakota. No widespread damage, thankfully.
Heavy Rain East and Northeast of BisMan
Menoken, McKenzie, and Sterling all received a good soaking last evening as storms developed east of the metro. Northeast North Dakota especially got dumped on. We do have a chance for some more showers or thundershowers in the Capital Region today; a few of these storms could become severe, but they are expected to be isolated, and they should be wrapped up by late afternoon.
